We need water to hydrate our body.Our body needs water to carry out functions.The human body comprises around 60% water.Water contains essential nutrients like calcium, potassium, magnesium etc which our body needs.Doctors recommend we should take 10 to 16 glass of water in summer season and 8 to 10 glasses in winter season.The reason of drying of skin in winters is less intake of water.When dehydrated, the skin can become more vulnerable to skin disorders and wrinkling.
Water also supports detoxification and helps flush toxins and impurities out of the body that dull your complexion. Stay well hydrated to support good circulation and blood flow, all of which will help your skin glow.
For Skin,If you don't like the taste of plain water, add a little lemon juice to make it more palatable. Vitamin C in citrus fruit is an antioxidant that fights skin-damaging free radicals and supports healthy collagen, a major component in skin. Along with drinking enough water, eat fruits and vegetables high in polyphenols and flavonoids to boost skin health. Sipping warm, vitamin C rich lemon water is believed to help you detoxify, which will help your skin glow.
In the morning,stir one teaspoon of honey in water and drink.It has good effect on skin.This honey water flushes out toxins from the body and increase the immune system.
OATS
Oats are good source of fiber.Oats contain fiber called beta glucan which controls the cholesterol level in blood.It is a soluble fiber and hepls to increase the growth of good bacteria in the large intestine which produce vitamin B12.It is taken in the form of cereal or as porridge.Oats are rich in minerals,vitamins and antioxidants like vitamin B ,riboflavin ,zinc etc .Oats and cereals have beneficial effect on stomach.According to some researchers,oats helps to reduce hunger and increase the feeling of fullness.
It is recommeded when we are on diet we should add oats in our diet.About one cup of oats has approximately 297 calories.Oats and their fibers help to maintain the gastrointestinal tract function and reduce the constipation problem.Healthy gut improves the immune system of body.
In the morning,in breakfast,take oats in the form porridge in water or low fat milk and add honey if you dont like to take sugar.Add cinnamon or greek yogurt and friuts especially berries of your choice to make it more nutritious.
For Skin,it clears the dead skin.Make fine powder of oats,add honey and few drops of rose water and make a paste.Apply it on damp face and scrub it gently for few minutes,wash your face and apply good moisturizer.This paste makes the skin fresh and glowing.It reduces itching and irritation in many conditions of skin.
Milk
Ever wonder why does a newly born baby given milk?The reason is that first,a babyhas too tiny and delicate gut that he cannot digest solid food and the second reason is that milk is a complete source of nutriton for the baby body to carry out body functions.Milk is not only necessary for babies but also for everyone of any age.
Cow Milk contains about 87% water,4% fats,3.4% proteins,4.8% lactose ,0.8% minerals and13% other solids.Milk fats contains colour pigment called carotene which gives butter its yellow colour.Milk fats act as a solvent for fat soluble vitamins like A,D,E and K.Vitamin D is very important for strong bones.Lactose is a combination of sugars,glucose and galactose which is a high source of energy.Milk contains high levels of calcium an important elements for bones.
Milk contains nutrients like probiotics ,vitamin D and immunoglobulins that boost the immune system of the body.Some people cannot digest milk easily.The reason is ,our bodies uses an enzyme called lactase which breaks down the lactose so our body can absorb it.
As it is important to take milk ,we should take it in other forms like in smoothies,yogurt,puddings etc.The best way to take milk in other form is with oats.
FOR SKIN,we can apply milk in the form of paste as which is helpful in reducing wrinkles.Take one or two table spoon of milk,add half teaspoon of glycerin and one to two drops of lemon.Massage this mixture onto your face for few minutes.Rinse it.You can see your skin is glowing and well moisturised.Dry skin shows wrinkles early if not properly moisturised and hydrate.
YOGURT
Yogurt is a dairy product obtained by fermentation of some microorganisms.Plain yogurt contains 81% water,9 % protein ,5% fats and 4% carbohydrates and sugars.It also contains calcium ,vitamins and probiotics which boost the immune system.
One cup of yogurt contains about 149kcal energy.It is a rich source of vitamin B12 ,an element good for good bacteria in large intestine,and riboflavin.Many people who are facing gut problems should use yogurt in their diet.Those people who are lactose intolernt should take yogurt in order to digest dairy product.
Lassi (buttermilk) is a beverage commonly found in Pakistan and India.It is made by stirring liquified yougurt either with salt or sugar.Its a refreshing and energetic drink in summers.
For a glass of lassi ,take 2 to 3 tablespooons add cold water and salt or sugar whatever you like ,put them in blender and blend it until a foamy cloud is formed.The foamy cloud is acutally butter and we can make butter from it as well.
FOR HAIR,we can use yogurt for hair mask also for smooth and shiny hair.Take 2 to 3 tablespoons of yogurt or according to the length of your hair,add 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive or mustard oil and add 1 to 2 tablespoons of mayonnese.Stir the mixture until it makes a paste.Apply it onto your scalp and massage gently.Leave this mixture about 1 hour.Rinse it with a good shampoo and use conditioner.You can see your hair become smooth and silky.It is a good hair mask for frizzy and tangled hair.
SPICES
Spices have also good effect on our body.They have some medicinal properties.Study shows that spices have zero level of cholesterol.
CLOVES
Cloves are flower buds which are aromatic.It contains Eugenol which give aroma to it.Cloves are used in the form of oil which has many benefits in reducing tooth pains.Cloves are used in traditional medicine as an essential oil for tooth disorders.According to the latest research,cloves have properties which boost the immune system.
In Asia,people use it in many cuisines like biryani(rice),Pulao etc.We can also use in tea.Take one or two cloves ,add in boiling water for tea.
CARDAMOM
Cardamom is a spice made from seeds of various plants.Cardamom are of two types, one is green and small in size and the other form is dark brown and longer in size.Both types have seed in their pods.Cardamoms are rich in fiber ,magnesium ,calcium and vitamin C.It has zero cholesterol level and has good beneficial effect on stomach.
It is used in the form of Kehva(boil in water) in order to maintain gut functions.Those people who are facing stomach problems should use its Kehva(add 1 to 2 cardamoms and some fennel seeds,few dried pomegranate seeds and mint leaves ,boil them for few minutes.Let it cool and then take it.Its very effective in diarrhea).
PEPPERCORNS
Peppercorns are used in dried form in seasoning.It contains iron ,fiber potassium and vitamin B6.They are found in different forms like black peppercorns ,white ,green and red on the basis of region.It contains a substance called Piperine which increases the absorption of selenium,vitamin B12 and beta carotene.Most commonly used peppercorns are black pepper in many cuisine.
CUMIN SEEDS
Cumin is the seed of dried herb belong to parsley family.Cumin seeds provide high amount of daily value of monosaturated fats,proteins,vitamin B ,E and minerals especially iron ,magnesium ,phosphorus and calcium.It can be used as a whole or in powdered form in many recipes.
CINNAMON
Cinnamon is obtained from barks of trees and is mainly used in some recipes for aroma and flavor.In ground form,cinnamon is composed of carbohydrates,protein,calcium,iron and vitamin K.The taste and aroma come from its component called cinnamaldehyde.Cinnamon is often used in savoury and sweet dishes like cinnamon rolls, in some rice recipes etc.
FOR SKIN,it is also used on skin by making paste in water as a scrub.Before applying on to skin ,do a patch test as it may cause some irritation on skin.Honey can be used alongwith cinnamon powder to give moisture to the skin.
TURMERIC
Turmeric is a flowering plant belongs to ginger family.The golden yellow colour of turmeric is due to its component,Curcumin.Turmeric powder has a warm,bitter taste and mustard like aroma.It contains carbohydrates ,fats ,dietary fiber,essential oils and curcuminoides.Turmeric powder is a key ingredient in many Asian cusines.
In Asia,people use it in milk called Haldi Doodh which is helpful in relieving body pains.If you are exhausted and feeling body pain,take a warm glass of milk ,add half teaspoon of turmeric and drink.You will feel better.
FOR SKIN,in Asia ,people use turmeric in bodyand face scrub which is really beautiful effect on skin.The scrub is called Ubtan.Take Gram flour,turmeric powder and few drops of rose water and make a paste.This paste is good for oily skin.If someone has dry skin then add milk to this paste.Turmeric makes the skin clear and glowy.
